How to Set Up Your New Laptop Like a Pro

If you’ve bought a new laptop, you must be looking for some help to set up your new device. Using a new laptop isn’t like driving a new car. You need to set the PC before you can start working on it. You need to download certain software that will make the working easy. You can do this by yourself if you learn some basic things. 1. Sign in With an Existing Account:

When you turn on a laptop for the first time, you will be prompted to configure a few settings. These settings will ask you about the language and network you wish to use on your computer. Although you can configure these settings later also, you should make sure that you are signing in with an existing and valid account. If you do not have an account, you should create a new one. For Microsoft, you will need a microsoft account and for other Android based devices, you will need a Google account. After signing in, you can also choose to sync your data with the existing account.

2. Connect to a Preferred Network:

During the setup process, you will be prompted to choose a network to connect your laptop to. Instead of skipping this step, you should connect to the preferred network. This will help your laptop get all the latest software updates. If you are installing Windows, you will need an active network for installation. It is suggested that you choose a reliable and trusted network during the setup process. You can always edit the network at a later stage.

3. Run Windows Update:

Before you start using any apps or browsers, it is suggested that you run a windows update. For this, your PC will have to be connected to the Internet and remain plugged in. Go to settings and check for system updates under Updates and Security. Download and install the updates and let your system reboot. This might take a few hours and you will have to be patient in this.

4. Download The Browsers That You Wish To Use:

There are some apps and browsers that you will need as soon as you start using your laptop. You should download the necessary ones at this step only. Some of the most important browsers are the web browsers like Chrome, Firefox, etc. Also download PDF reader and music players if you do not already have them on your laptop.

5. Secure Your PC:

Enable Windows Defender or Firewall as soon as you start using your laptop. This will ensure the security of your PC from malware. Also, take a backup of all your data.
